1 December 2003 The new roster, with genealogy and biography of the men of the 15th Massachusetts is finally ready for its first posting. Many descendants, friends and interested researchers have contributed so very much. I hope the new format will help many more family researchers make the connection with their roots and heritage in the 15th Massachusetts. Susan L. Harnwell |
16 July 2000 Since I originally posted my bit of information on the 15th Massachusetts almost three years ago, many wonderful people have contacted me and contributed their own. Bob Ducharme checked in, and the 15th site added a Reenactment section. Many descendants have checked in and contributed their ancestor's photo, biography or genealogy. Artifact collectors, Scott D. Hann and Michael Cunningham, have contributed photos or photos of items which originally belonged to men of the 15th. Dave McGlaughlin contributed his original research on the unit history of the 1st Co. Andrew Sharpshooters, and Tom Hayes gave permission to post or "frame" his original document research pertaining to the 15th. The response has been tremendously gratifying and sometimes overwhelming. There are always a number of items waiting to be added to the site, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I've come to think of it as "our" site, and "we" are a full-service site for anyone with an interest in any aspect of the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. I welcome all contributions. I look forward to the new information that the next years might bring. Susan L. Harnwell |
24 Aug 1997 Many years ago, I discovered an ancestor, Charles Henry Watson. He was the Captain of Company E, 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. His picture hangs in the ancestral gallery in my corridor and has become much a part of our family's life. The search to know more about Captain Charlie's life lead directly into an interest in the 15th MVI. To those of you who may have your own bits and pieces of information on the 15th MVI, I welcome any additions or corrections to these pages. I will be glad to post your information with appropriate credit. Please feel free to contact me To those who have just stopped by for a friendly visit during an evening's surfing, I welcome your interest and hope you'll take a moment to leave a few words. Above all, this small effort is dedicated to the memory of those who gave their lives with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, and to those who returned home with lives forever changed.
