| HEADQUARTERS Personal War Sketch Who was born the fifth day of August A.D. 1822 in Lancaster County of Worcester State of Massachusets; son of Nathaniel and Rebecca (Nichols) Alexander. He enlisted on the fourteenth day of December A.D. 1861, as a private in company C. 15th Massachusetts Regiment; and was discharged therefrom on the fifteenth day of October A.D. 1862, by reason of disability; described as five feet ten inches in height, dark complexion and hazel eyes. He was in the battle of Fair Oaks and some others. He contracted measles of which he never entirely recovered. Previous to his discharge he was in Convalescent Hospital at Fort Ellsworth, Virginia. He was a mechanic and subsequent to the war resided in the town of Holland, owning a saw mill on the Quinebaug River.
