from Pension File of John Toomey,

Andrew B. Yeomans states
that he was formerly a Sergeant in Co. E, 15th Mass. Vols., that he well knew John Toomey, a Corporal in the same company, and knew him before enlistment;

that said John was always a good boy, and that his father Dennis Toomey drew said John's wages while the latter worked at the shoe trade;

that deponent frequently heard said John, while in the service, express his intention to send money to his father for the use of the family, but deponent does not believe that said Dennis Toomey was, at any time, dependent upon said John's contributions, but provided a comfortable support for his family independent there of;

that deponent always understood that before said Dennis Toomey had his farm, he made considerable money by the illicit sale of liquors;

that said Toomey is considerably broken down by age and cannot do much work.
