  • According to Ford, men designated here as "No_SvcRec" were apparently "mustered into the service of the United States and assigned to the Fifteenth Regiment, but none of them have a record of service with that organization."
  • This man is not identifiable in the MASSCW.

Patrick Dempsey

  • Patrick Dempsey was born between 1832 - 1833 at Ireland.
  • In 1861 Patrick was living at Mansfield, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
  • He was married at the time of his enlistment, according to Ford's history.
  • At the time of his enlistment in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, in 1863, Patrick gave his occupation as laborer.

  • On 24 Jul 1863 Patrick mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Raynham, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
  • On 28 Nov 1863 Patrick ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts by desertion from hospital, according to the MASSCW and John Donaldson's letter. (see below).

  • John Donaldson wrote two letters to "My dearest Ella", mentioning "Frank and Arthur" who are on Ella's end; "Lizzie" who is at home with "mother"; "Charles" who is in the company, as well as "Pat Dempsey" of Co. C. Click HERE to read the letters.

  • On 27 Jul 1864 Patrick ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts by administrative transfer to Company E of the 20th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry while absent sick, according to Ford's history and the 1870 roster. However, he does ot appear on the rolls of the 20th.
