  • He and Charles M. Ball were NOT buried at Hope Cemetery, Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, Section 75, Lot 11, Grave 4800, with their parents. The grave markers there are memorial stones only, stating that Simeon was buried in Maryland and Charles was buried in Virginia.
  • On 28 Jul 1862 Charles M. Ball, his brother, enlisted and mustered in the 25th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, Co. G.
  • On 2 Jan 1864, Charles M. Ball, his brother, was reenlisted for a bounty of $322.66.
  • Charles M. Ball, his brother, survived Simeon and died on 20 Aug 1864 killed in action at Ft. Stedman during seige of Petersburg, Virginia. He was buried at Poplar Grove National Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. Section D, Site 1303 at age 19.

V. M., died at 57 Mechanic street Saturday, aged 56 years. He was wounded at the battle of the Wilderness, May 6, 1864, in the left breast, the ball entering the lung and never being found. The wound resulted in consumption, and Mr. Barry has been confined to his bed for several months.". He was 56 years old.

Comrade Barry was severely wounded in the side at Cold Spring Harbor fight and had been a great sufferer ever since. The ball that entered his body at that time he carried to the grave."

  • On 2 Feb 1872 Lydia Cole, his wife, died at North Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts, at age 76.
  • Stephen R. Barton died on 30 Dec 1874 at Spencer, Worcester County, Massachusetts, of lung fever. He was 70 years, 5 months and 4 days old.
  • He was buried in Dec 1874 at Walnut Grove Cemetery, School St., North Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts.

  • Harvey Bassett was born at an unknown place with "no further record" in Ford's history, however, for some reason, he is included. Apparently he served in the 27th Mass.
  • Per MASSCW, a Harvey E. BASSETT, farmer, 21, resident in Florida (logically Berkshire Co., MA). joined Co. H of the 27th Massachusetts Infantry. Mustered out 15 June 1865, as returned prisoner of war.
