  • In 1861 Patrick was living at Mansfield, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
  • He was married at the time of his enlistment, according to Ford's history.
  • At the time of his enlistment in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, in 1863, Patrick gave his occupation as laborer.

  • On 24 Jul 1863 Patrick mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Raynham, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
  • On 28 Nov 1863 Patrick ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts by desertion from hospital, according to the MASSCW and John Donaldson's letter. (see below).

  • John Donaldson wrote two letters to "My dearest Ella", mentioning "Frank and Arthur" who are on Ella's end; "Lizzie" who is at home with "mother"; "Charles" who is in the company, as well as "Pat Dempsey" of Co. C. Click HERE to read the letters.

  • On 28 Jul 1863 Edward mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Roxbury, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.
  • On 12 Jul 1864 Edward ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts by transfer to Company E of the 20th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, while absent sick, according to Ford's history.

  • Starting 13 Jul 1864, Edward also served in the 20th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, Company "E."
  • He ended his service with the 20th MVI by mustering out on 16 Jul 1865 at Washington, DC.

  • He was born between 1829 - 1830 at Ireland.
  • Joseph S. Dickson married Margaret [--?--].
  • Joseph S. Dickson and Margaret [--?--] appeared on the census of 1855 at Clinton, Worcester County, Massachusetts, in the State Census as:
    Joseph DIXON-28, laborer
    Margaret-30.
  • Joseph S. Dickson and Margaret [--?--] were enumerated in the 1860 US Federal census on 24 Jul 1860 at Harvard P. O., Clinton, Worcester County, Massachusetts, as:
    Joseph Dixon, 35, laborer, b. Ireland
    Mary, 34, weaver, b. Ireland.
  • In 1861 Joseph was living at Clinton, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
  • At the time of his enlistment in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, in 1861, Joseph gave his occupation as farmer.

  • On 12 Jul 1861 Joseph mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Clinton, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
  • On 16 Sep 1862 Joseph S. Dickson was wounded at The Battle of Antietam, Washington County, Maryland, in the knee.
  • On 17 Dec 1862 Joseph ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts due to disability for wounds received in action.

  • He and Margaret [--?--] were enumerated in the 1870 US Federal Census on 25 Jun 1870 at Clinton, Worcester County, Massachusetts, as:
    Dickson, Joseph, 40, works on farm, $800 real estate value, b. Ireland
    ---, Margaret, 45, keeping house, b. Scotland.
  • Joseph S. Dickson and Margaret [--?--] were enumerated in the 1880 US Federal census in Jun 1880 at Clinton, Worcester County, Massachusetts, where he works as a Farm Laborer. It appears that the lady making pension application was right. No children are enumerated in the household.
  • Joseph S. Dickson died on 13 Oct 1880 at Clinton, Worcester County, Massachusetts, in an accident.
  • He was buried in Oct 1880 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
  • In 1880 at Clinton, Worcester County, Massachusetts, there was an administration of his extate.
  • On 8 Feb 1881 Margaret Dixon received a pension to surviving family member based on Joseph's service; with application number 280491. She claims that "Joseph DICKSON" of Company C of the 15th is an alias for her husband Joseph DIXON. No certificate number is given.
  • Margaret, his wife, outlived Joseph and died on 20 Mar 1884 at Clinton, Worcester County, Massachusetts, of blood poisoning.
  • In 1896, Joseph was included in "The History of Clinton, Massachusetts" as Joseph S. DICKSON.

  • Jacob Dockwiller was born between 1841 - 1842 at France.

  • At the time of his enlistment in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, in 1863, Jacob gave his occupation as sailor.
  • Before 1863 Ford's history notes that he had been a soldier in the Confederate Army.

  • On 24 Jul 1863 Jacob mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
  • Between Nov 1863 - Dec 1863 Jacob ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts by transfer to Company B of the 30th Wisconsin Infantry.

  • Starting 7 Jan 1864, Jacob also served in the in the 30th Wisconsin Infantry from which he deserted.

George Doherty

  • At the time of his enlistment in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, in 1863, George gave his occupation as baker.
  • He lived in 1863.

  • On 24 Jul 1863 George mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Boxborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
  • On 21 Aug 1863 George ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts at Morrisville, Fauquier County, Virginia, by desertion.

  • On 2 Oct 1869 an Edward Doherty applied (number 149617) for an invalid pension as a member of Company C, but no certificate was recorded, noting that he also served in the 14th N. S. Infantry, Co. B.
    This may, or may not, apply to the same man.

John Donaldson

  • At the time of his enlistment in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, in 1863, John gave his occupation as book binder.
  • In 1863 John was living at Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

  • On 30 Jul 1863 John mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Sandwich, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.
  • John Donaldson wrote two letters to "My dearest Ella", mentioning "Frank and Arthur" who are on Ella's end; "Lizzie" who is at home with "mother"; "Charles" who is in the company, as well as "Pat Dempsey" of Co. C. Click HERE to read the letters.

  • The "Charles" mentioned in the letter, who is in the same company (Co. C) with John Donaldson, may be Charles CAMPBELL, who joined 31 July 63, also credited from Barnstable County. The other Charles' in Co. C do not fit the time and place for various reasons. This needs further investigation.
  • On 4 Jan 1864 John ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts at Stevensburg, Culpeper County, Virginia, by desertion.

  • The personal papers or letters of John Donaldson are available at consisting of two letters.
  • He was enumerated in the 1880 US Federal census in Jun 1880 at Placerville, El Dorado County, California, possibly noted -- a John Donaldson, b. Scotland, 50, a miner living alone (the closest match).
