The 39^th annual reunion of the association of companies E and I 15^th regiment of Massachusetts volunteers, took place in Memorial hall Saturday. The meeting was called to order by Peleg F. Murray of Worcester, in the absence of Capt. W. F. Miller, after which Leonard E. Thayer, secretary, called the roll. The fact was brought out in the secretary’s report that of the original 100 members of Co. E, 89 would never again respond to the roll call, taps having sounded for them for the last time.

After the roll call, these officers were elected: President Wm. F. Miller; vice president, Capt. Amos Bartlett; secretary and treasurer, Leonard E. Thayer; directors, Elias B. Wakefield, Hiram Raymond and John W. Humphrey. At the conclusion of the business meeting, Albert H. Slater, who had come a distance of 600 miles from Sharpsburg, Pa. to attend the re union, and also to be present at the dedication of the Gen. Devens statue in Worcester, July 4. In the course of his remarks, he invited the members of the association present to be his guests at dinner and the company adjourned to Oxford Inn, where Mrs Mabel M. Hager served dinner.

Those partaking of it were Geo. W. Ward and Peleg Murray of Worcester, Stephen Russell, Elias B. Wakefield, Henry Rusack, and Henry Groh of Webster; Patrick Healy and Hiram J. Raymond of Dudley; James Clifford of Clinton; Leander Kirby of Paxton; Albert H. Slater, of Sharpsburg Pa. Rev. Albert Tyler, Leonard E. Thayer, Hon. Allen l. Joslin, John W. Humphrey and H. A. Moffit of Oxford.

At 1;30 o’clock the party returned to the hall and the session opened with the reading of regrets from Col. E. J. Russell, Capt. D. M. Earle, Col. Thomas J. Hastings and W. F. Miller of Worcester; Horace P. Howe of Sanbornton, H. H.; Henry Brandes of Webster and A. D. Hudson of Grafton. Peleg F. Murray spoke of the members who had passed on during the year, making special reference to John Cudworth of Charlton.

Hon. Allen L. Joslin and Albert H. Slater spoke at length of their personal experiences, and both paid glowing tribute to the men who saved the union. George H. Ward, a son of Brig.-Gen. George H. Ward, and a member of Co. E and I by brevet, recounted a number of humorous incidents and Stephen Russell and E. B. Wakefield spoke briefly.

The secretary was instructed to send congratulations to President W. F. Miller, who has recently married. At the close of the speaking the members of the association with heads lowered for a few moments paid silent tribute to those of their number who would never meet with them again. Before adjournment Hon. Allen l. Joslin invited the members to be his guests at the reunion in June 1907.
