    In the 1871 census of Cambridge, Thomas gives his birth place as Bressingham. The Bressingham parish records show that Joseph and Eleanor had a son, Thomas, in 1831.
    This Thomas gives his father's name as "Joseph" on his marriage certificate, but names his first son "George". His theoretical brother, George, even gives his father's name as George.
