Cortis N. Rice was enumerated in the 1890 US Federal census, Veteran's Schedule in Jun 1890 at Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, as having served in the 1st Co. Andrews Sharpshooters.

On 20 Oct 1906 at Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, Edward A. Rice attended the 40th annual reunion of the 15th regiment association, with some 75 other veterans of the regiment. (Report believed to be from the Worcester Spy.)
Edward A. Rice was also mentioned in attendance in the Fitchburg Sentinel coverage of the 1906 reunion.
On 21 Oct 1907 at Grand Army Hall, Worcester, Massachusetts, Edward A. Rice attended the 41st annual regimental reunion and banquet on the 46th anniversary of the Battle of Ball's Bluff, as reported in the Fitchburg Sentinel the following day.
He died on 30 Jan 1909 at Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, unmarried. He was 73 years and 7 months old.
He was buried in Jan 1909 at Rural Cemetery, Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
Louisa A. M. Rice survived Edward and was buried in Feb 1913 in Rural Cemetery, at Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, his sister.

At the time of his enlistment in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, in 1861, Edwin gave his occupation as shoemaker.
On 12 Jul 1861 Edwin mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was 20 years, 5 months and 19 days old.
In Jul 1861 Edwin was described as height 5 ft. 7 inch; complexion dark; eyes dark hazle; hair dark.
On 21 Oct 1861 Edwin was taken prisoner at The Battle of Ball's Bluff, Leesburg, Virginia, from his personal GAR sketch: He deems the event of being taken prisoner at Ball's Bluff as the most important in his service, and remarks hat he has ever been glad and thankful that he did his duty to his country.
On 30 Oct 1861 at the "Worcester Palladium", Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, Edwin A. Rice was included, with 304 other men, among "The Killed Wounded and Missing of the Fifteenth Regiment," after Ball's Bluff.
On 20 Nov 1861 at "The Worcester Daily Spy", Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, Edwin A. Rice was listed with 195 other men among the prisoners taken at Ball's Bluff.
On 1 Jun 1862, Edwin was paroled from prison.
On 20 Nov 1862 Edwin ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts at Alexandria, Alexandria (city), Virginia, due to disability.
Starting 4 Jan 1864, Edwin also served in the Company K, 1st CT Heavy Artillery.
In 1864, Edwin was in active service at Bermuda Hundred in the following May and June. Participated in the siege of Petersburg in September, October, and November.
On 25 Mar 1865 Edwin was taken prisoner for a second time.
He ended his service with by parole from prison on 1 Apr 1865 at Richmond, Richmond County, Virginia.
Edwin A. Rice married Emma Elizabeth Young, daughter of Thomas Young and Esther Keyes, who was "of" Union, Tolland County, Connecticut.
Edwin A. Rice and Emma Elizabeth Young were enumerated in the 1880 US Federal census in Jun 1880 at Eastford, Windham County, Connecticut, where he is a Shoe Maker.
In 1886 Edwin A. Rice was an office holder of GAR offices of J.V.C.

On 21 Oct 1887 his son, Edgar Rice, died at Sturbridge, Worcester County, Massachusetts, at age 14 of diphtheria.
In 1888 Edwin A. Rice was given a transfer card to the GAR Post in Spencer, Massachusetts.
He was enumerated in the 1890 US Federal census, Veteran's Schedule in Jun 1890 at Spencer, Worcester County, Massachusetts, as having served in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, Company F, noting that he suffers necrosis of the bone in his right leg.
On 19 Sep 1896 at Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts, Edwin A. Rice attended a reunion of Company F, as reported in the Worcester Daily Spy the following day.
He and Emma Elizabeth Young were enumerated in the 1900 US Federal census on 1 Jun 1900 at Cottage Street, Spencer, Worcester County, Massachusetts, where he is a "shoe laster", and they live in a mortgaged home of their own. Their married son, Frank, lives next door with his wife and son, Earl, b. March 1890.
Edwin A. Rice witnessed the veteran's pension of Charles Alexander Bacon on 15 May 1911.
Edwin A. Rice died on 27 Jul 1914 at Spencer, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was 73 years, 6 months and 4 days old.
He was buried on 29 Jul 1914 at North Cemetery, Sturbridge, Worcester County, Massachusetts.

Walter Abbott Eames wrote a letter to Sarah Ann Ames, his wife, on 15 Nov 1861, mentioning Harrison Rich, as follows.
On 1 Aug 1862, Harrison was reduced in rank from Sergeant to Private.
George Rich, his brother, was the bandmaster of the Twenty-first Massachusetts Volunteer Regiment band.
On 8 Apr 1863 Harrison Rich was court martialed at Falmouth, Stafford County, Virginia, as documented in case number MM-119 and sentenced to forfeit two months pay (National Archives, Record Group 153.)
In Jun 1863, Harrison was absent with pass from Surgeon on the march from Frederick to Unionstown.
On 16 Oct 1863, Harrison was promoted to Corporal.
In Dec 1863, Harrison was on detached service in Subsistance Dept at Army Headquarters.
On 28 Jul 1864 Harrison ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts having fulfilled his term of service.
He was enumerated in the 1880 US Federal census on 2 Jun 1880 at Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, (Dist 112) as:

Brother of Early Band Leader
Harrison Rich, who served with Co. B of the 15th Massachusetts infantry in the Civil War, enlisting from this city on July 12, 1861, died at the hospital at the soldiers' home in Togus, Me., last Sunday night, of pulmonary tuberculosis. He was a brother of the late George Rich, an early leader of the Fitchburg band. He was born in Phillipston, Mass., on Sept. 12, 1835, and was a hatter by trade. He served with his regiment until July 28, 1864, and was admitted to the Togus home from Athol on Jan. 6, 1905.
On 28 Jun 1908 Harrison Rich was reported as deceased at the 40th annual reunion of Company B, 15th Mass.
On 2 Sep 1908, Harriet Cleveland, his widowed twin sister, was appointed administrator of his estate at Athol, Worcester County, Massachusetts.

George Riley was born about in 1837 at Canada.
At the time of his enlistment in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, George gave his occupation as sailor.
In 1863 George was living at Canada.
On 16 Jul 1863 George mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry as a substitute for one Kindall Hopkins, a drafted man, being credited to the quota of Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He was 26 years old.
George was described as being 5 feet 5 and 3/4 inches tall, with black eyes, brown hair, and a dark complexion.
George was illiterate and signed his enlistment with an "x."
On 23 Apr 1864 George ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts by transfer to the Navy.
George also served in the Navy.
