Webster - the death of William Mitchell, late of company I, 15th Mass. regiment, at the Worcester city farm and the interment of the remains at Mount Hope Cemetery without informing the relatives in town of his decease as per request, has caused much comment of negligence on the part of the person in charge of the city farm.
The deceased was taken to the farm by one of the comrades of Post 61, G. A. R., who requested thatin the death of the comrade the keeper should at once notify the post of the death, as he desired to be buried in Webster. His son visited the farm on Friday, and to his astonishment found that his father died Thursday morning and was buried. He returned home, informed the relatives of the death and the utter disregard of wishes of the friends by the person in charge, and the sudden burial even without proper notification as per request.
The matter, no doubt, will be brought before the city authorities. His remains will be taken up and brought to Webster for interment, as he wished to lie with his kindred.
